Pears At Golden Hour

Pears At Golden Hour
This super-sized fruit ‘portrait’ aims to capture the magnificence of the humble British pear. The process of intense study and the time required to paint a two pears at such scale means that I begin to imagine a coversation between the subjects. Their proximity to one another affects how their colours interplay. I have enriched and heightened the colours, depicting the fruit as if they were actors spot-lit on a stage. The subdued, dark baclground push the pears to the fore. Finished with 3 layers of varnish to seal the painting and protect it from UV and dust.
